Muuseumiöö // Long night of museums 2015

Sunday, May 17, 2015

Minu jaoks kolmas kord, kahe varasema aasta külastused siin.

Third time for me, 2013 and 2014 Long nights here.
This time I really wanted to visit Estonian Health Museum but finally ended up not going because the queue was quite long (which was expected to be honest). 2 years ago the weather was rainy at the beginning of the evening and so most museums were pretty empty. This year was sunny which resulted in a mass of people everywhere. I really want to go and visit some of these museums with a ticket some other time, just so I'd have time to look or take photos of things. These photos are mostly rushed (more so than the ones from previous years).
In conclusion it was like speed run, we visited a total of 6 museums: Fat Margaret, Estonian Museum of Natural History, Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design, Niguliste Church and Museum, NUKU Museum, Museum of Estonian Architecture.
Some of them I had visited on previous Long night of museums and some I had visited back in school many years ago.
First ones were NUKU Museum and Architecture Museum.

Algus Loodusmuuseumis (peegeldused igal pool...) // Start in Natural History Museum (reflections everywhere...)

NUKU Muuseum

Niguliste kirik // Niguliste Church

Paks Margareeta // Fat Margaret
Kuna varsti selliseid tramme linnapildis enam ei näe, tegin igaks juhuks ka neist pilte // These old trams will soon be replaced with modern ones, so I took some photos to remember them.

Muuseumiöö 2014 // Long Night of Museums 2014

Sunday, May 18, 2014

This time we went to Tallinn TV Tower and to the nearby Tallinn Botanic Garden. We were allowed to be on the highest floor of the TV tower for about 25 minutes which is not a lot, but at the same time it was understandable because the queue was pretty long and only 100 people were allowed to go up at once (for safety/evacuation reasons).
And since spring's arrival has been slow, flowers in the botanic garden hadn't quite blossomed yet...so the gardens were not as exciting as in the summer.

The fence (?) on the right looks super warped. At first I thought it to be a glitch that happened while stitching the panorama (6 images for this one) but in the original photos it looked exactly the same. So...no glitch.

Taking photos inside wasn't that easy, the reflections were quite annoying.

Lasnamäe:

You can see the ground through a glass in the floor:

Not a huge fan of selfies, but since I wanted to have a photo of myself in the tower...

Ahead: Tallinn city centre

 Outside, "view" towards Lasnamäe :D

In the botanic garden.

A friend.

And now some photos I took couple of days ago in Pikakari.

And this little guy likes to come and eat outside our window every day.
