Uus liige // New addition

Saturday, May 9, 2015

Minu objektiivide tagasihoidliku kogu uus pesamuna on nüüd Nikoni Nikkor 50mm 1.8D.

Nikon Nikkor 50mm 1.8D is the newest member in my modest collection of lenses. Buying something new had been on my mind for quite some time, I just hadn't decided on what to buy. In the end, it came down to the price and I bought the cheapest Nikkor lens available in Estonia (mind you, it's much more affordable in USA, ~60+$ gap). Naturally the price wasn't the *only* reason, my goal was to get something small/compact with a bigger max aperture than any of my existing lenses...And so the 1.8D seemed like a good enough choice. There is no zoom, since it is a fixed-focus lens, so that might take some time to get use to. I've had some experience with my Industar 50, which is also a 50mm fixed lens, but it can't focus to infinity on a Nikon body (well, it can as far as I know, but you'd have to screw the lens open) and the max aperture is smaller than the 1.8D. Plus, there's no autofocus.
I've also thought about buying a new body because my Nikon D80 will be 7 years old in the fall and has really started to show its age...But nonetheless, it has definately served me well all these years. Realistically speaking, a new body is not in the cards right now, but maybe in the next year or so it might be a possibility.
Since I received the lens on Thursday (and school keeps me busy these days), I haven't really had a good chance to test it out yet. These are just a couple of shots I've managed to take so far.

Vaated kahe maja 14. korruselt.

Views from the 14th floor of two buildings. Lenses: Nikon D80 kit lens and the 50mm 1.8D.

Selfie :) Murelik pilk - rõdupiirdel kaamera ja tuuline ilm. // Selfie :) Concerned look - windy...and camera on the ledge.

Olin just poest kohvikoort ostnud, ei muud :D // Just before going to the balcony, I had bought a coffee creamer, no other idea behind this photo :D

Nüüd vaated kesklinna poole (teine maja). Ei mäletanudki, et sealt nägi ka Lasnamäed (ja uut kirikut) // And now the view towards the city center (from the building across the road).

This time we went to Tallinn TV Tower and to the nearby Tallinn Botanic Garden. We were allowed to be on the highest floor of the TV tower for about 25 minutes which is not a lot, but at the same time it was understandable because the queue was pretty long and only 100 people were allowed to go up at once (for safety/evacuation reasons).
And since spring's arrival has been slow, flowers in the botanic garden hadn't quite blossomed yet...so the gardens were not as exciting as in the summer.

The fence (?) on the right looks super warped. At first I thought it to be a glitch that happened while stitching the panorama (6 images for this one) but in the original photos it looked exactly the same. So...no glitch.

Taking photos inside wasn't that easy, the reflections were quite annoying.

Lasnamäe:

You can see the ground through a glass in the floor:

Not a huge fan of selfies, but since I wanted to have a photo of myself in the tower...

Ahead: Tallinn city centre

 Outside, "view" towards Lasnamäe :D

In the botanic garden.

A friend.

And now some photos I took couple of days ago in Pikakari.

Sunday and Helena

Wow. That day was a dream. Seriously. I’m still speechless. I really think we took a lot of gorgeous photos that day. She has never been a “stiff-poser”, meaning that I took shots of her while we were talking, walking etc. So these photos of her are natural, no fake modeling involved.
I’m not going to post every fantastic photo I took of Helena, because that would be a tad too much :D
But I am going to upload some of my faves. I had a very hard time choosing them, though…so plenty to choose from.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering - she’s quite tall, like a real model :)

Oldie b&w. Wearing my sunglasses, her high school ring and leaning on a railing.

The stairs. I’m not going into detail about getting this shot, but I must say…it wasn’t the most comfortable position for me :D

Posing in this one :D Something in ANTM style. But still a great photo ;P

Sitting on a bench. It was a bit over exposed due to the Sun.

Standing on the roots of a pine tree. Leaving behind the hill of Nõmme. Also holding a leaf.

On a ski jumping tower. I don’t know why I like this shot so much. I just do :D

Anyways! I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my latest creations and see you next time ;P

My cat, Miisu. I believe there was a fish she was eyeing. 2009

A doodle, ballpoint pen + PS

My cat, Miisu. Very early spring of 2009 I believe.

My granny, just having a laugh. Caught her off guard ;)

Me. And a broken porcelain cup, looking not amused.

Me, wearing a dress. That's something you don't see every day :)
