Nagu näha, siis blogi välmus on taas läbinud uuenduskuuri. Mis on teisiti? Kui eelnevalt oli kogu info all jaluses, siis nüüd lisasin selle paremale sidebarile. Kuna mu eesmärgiks on postitada vähemalt 1000px laiuseid pilte, siis varem olin sidebari osas skeptiline - kas kõik ikka mahub ära. Praegu tundub, et vähemalt 15-tollise ekraaniga peaks kõik korras olema.
Tegin eelnevalt päisest ja jalusest ekraanipildi, et võrdlust paremini näha. Nipet-näpet siin ilmselt veel muutub, kuid üldpilt peaks ikkagi samaks jääma.
Ahjaa, sidebaril asuv Labels jäi küll samaks, kuid IEs see jätkuvalt ei tööta (toimiv ainult Chrome'is/Firefoxis).

As you can see, the look of this blog has changed once again. What's the difference? I placed the contents of the footer to a new addition, the right sidebar. Since my goal is to post photos at least 1000px in width, I wasn't quite sure of everything fitting together (1000px photos + a sidebar)...but starting from a 15'' monitor, it should look okay.
I screenshotted the previous layout for a better comparison and I'm probably still missing a few bits and pieces here and there (which I'll be adding shortly), but the overall look should stay the same.
Also, Labels is exactly the same as before, but unfortunately it will still not work in IE (only in Chrome and Firefox).

Et siis. Veidike juttu sellest, mis vahepeal toiminud on. Oma viimases suvises postituses kirjutasin, et sain tööd IT kasutajatoe spetsialistina. Töö algus oli 1. septembril ja katseaeg kestis 4 kuud. Võin öelda, et kogu selle aja hoidsin nö hinge kinni, sest pinge oli peal. Nende kuudega jõudsid kätte ka külmad ilmad ja pime aeg. Iga aastaga on see periood raskemalt mõjuma hakanud, kogu sügis-talv on nagu üks suur must auk. Ei kippunud kuidagi välja minema, stress ja väsimus ja kehv ilm kõik koos on parajalt ebamotiveeriv pakett. Sellest ka null postitust vahepealse aja jooksul.
Aasta lõpus sain toreda teate, et olen katseaja läbinud :) Seetõttu olen üritanud nüüd endale ka rohkem aega leida. Edaspidiselt võtan sihiks igal nädalavahetusel kaameraga korra kuskil käia. Kas sealt iga kord ka pilte saab, on iseasi :D
Rääkides kaamerast, siis...mu Nikon D80 sai endale uue kaaslase - Nikon D5200. "Mis oli-on mu kaamerakotis" postituses sai mainitud, et tahan millalgi uue kere soetada ning nüüd, jaanuari keskel, ma selle teoks ka tegin. Kui aus olla, siis oli D80 mul juba nii käpas, et D5200 käsitlemine vajab veel harjumist. Ei ole veel kaamera hingeelu endale päris selgeks suutnud teha, aga eks ajapikku asi paraneb. Kindlasti pole plaanis D80 nurka visata, olen kõigi nende aastate jooksul temaga väga rahule jäänud. Eks näis, kuhu nüüd edasi.

So. A recap of recent events. In my last summery post I wrote about getting a job as an IT support specialist. I started work on September 1 and had 4 months as a trial period. All this time I pretty much held my breath because of stress. With each passing month, the weather got colder and darker and gloomier. Every single year it hits me harder than ever before, the whole autumn-winter period is just a big black hole. So the accumulated stress of work, not so great weather, being tired...didn't motivate me to go anywhere or do anything. I really lost my track in posting and taking photos.
In the end of the year, I received great news of having passed my trial period :) which is why I've started trying to find more time for myself now. I'll try and go out every weekend with my camera. I can't say there will be photos every time, but I'll do my best.
Speaking of cameras...my trusty old Nikon D80 has a new companion - Nikon D5200. In my "What was-is in my camera bag" post I mentioned a thought of buying a new camera body someday. Well, now it has become a reality. To be honest, I'm still so used to using D80 that learning to handle D5200 is going to take some time. This won't mean that I'll be throwing my D80 away, I'm still very fond of it and will keep using it as long as possible.

Minu objektiivide tagasihoidliku kogu uus pesamuna on nüüd Nikoni Nikkor 50mm 1.8D. Olin juba ammu mõelnud midagi uut soetada, aga senimaani polnud valiku osas otsusele jõudnud. Lõpuks sai määravaks ikkagi hind ja valituks osutus Eestis kõige soodsamalt saadaolev Nikkori objektiiv. Tegelikult ei ostnud ma seda muidugi ainult hinna pärast; sooviks oli saada midagi väikest ja kompaktset, mille maksimaalne apertuur oleks suurem kui mu senistel objektiividel. Kuna tegemist on nn fix-objektiiviga (50mm), siis zoomi tal ei ole ning eks see saab veidi harjumatu olema. Samasugune fix 50mm on tegelikult mu Industar 50, millega olen nüüdseks kuskil aasta "käppa harjutanud", kuid sellega on see häda, et Nikoni kerega ei saa teravustada lõpmatusse (kasutan seda objektiivi vaid lähivõteteks). Või õigemini - saab, kuid selleks tuleb ta lahti kruvida ja natuke nö tšikibrikit teha (mida ma küll korra tegin, kuid kangutama igaks juhuks midagi ei hakanud).
Olen tasapisi mõelnud ka kere väljavahetamise peale, sest sügisel saab mu Nikon D80 7-aastaseks ja paratamatult on hakanud ilmnema vananemise märke. Kõik need aastad on ta mind hästi teeninud, seega nuriseda ei saa kuidagi. Praegu aga jääb uus kere veel unistuseks, kuigi loodetavasti umbes aasta pärast võiks sellele juba rohkem mõtlema hakata.
Varsti teen postituse, kus räägin veidi lähemalt oma olemasolevast fotokraamist.
Kuna objektiivi sain kätte neljapäeval ja praegu on ka kiired ajad, siis eriti pole seda jõudnud veel katsetada, kuid mõned pildid senistest klõpsudest lisan siia juurde.

Nikon Nikkor 50mm 1.8D is the newest member in my modest collection of lenses. Buying something new had been on my mind for quite some time, I just hadn't decided on what to buy. In the end, it came down to the price and I bought the cheapest Nikkor lens available in Estonia (mind you, it's much more affordable in USA, ~60+$ gap). Naturally the price wasn't the *only* reason, my goal was to get something small/compact with a bigger max aperture than any of my existing lenses...And so the 1.8D seemed like a good enough choice. There is no zoom, since it is a fixed-focus lens, so that might take some time to get use to. I've had some experience with my Industar 50, which is also a 50mm fixed lens, but it can't focus to infinity on a Nikon body (well, it can as far as I know, but you'd have to screw the lens open) and the max aperture is smaller than the 1.8D. Plus, there's no autofocus.
I've also thought about buying a new body because my Nikon D80 will be 7 years old in the fall and has really started to show its age...But nonetheless, it has definately served me well all these years. Realistically speaking, a new body is not in the cards right now, but maybe in the next year or so it might be a possibility.
Since I received the lens on Thursday (and school keeps me busy these days), I haven't really had a good chance to test it out yet. These are just a couple of shots I've managed to take so far.

Nagu näha, siis on blogi välimus teinud läbi järjekordse uuenduskuuri. Sel korral olen asja veidi põhjalikumalt kätte võtnud kui varasemalt; kui eelnevalt piirdusin peamiselt Bloggeris pakutavaga, siis nüüd sai ka koodi kallal järatud. Eks arenguruumi veel on, kuid võrreldes eelneva paigutusega, on see ikkagi samm edasi. Ma ei tea, mis "inspiratsiooni/motivatsioonipuhang" mulle peale tuli, aga see nokitsemine pani mind kogu oma blogi kriitilise pilguga vaatama. Piilusin ka päris algseid postitusi, mis on pärit 2010/2011. aastast ja osaliselt tegelikult Tumblrist üle toodud. Just sel põhjusel olid toona postitatud pildid üliväiksed - Tumblri piirang - ja ma otsustasin enamuse neist sissekannetest kustutada.
Veel panin tähele, et märksõnade/labels määramine on mul aegade algusest täielik segapuder olnud, järjekindlus puudus. Nende korrastamine/süsteemi tekitamine võttis päris kõvasti aega. Igatahes ma loodan, et nüüd on märksõnade abil navigeerimine siin veidike arusaadavam.
Kuna ma olen alati pildipostituste lõppu lisanud muusikapala, siis päris palju oli ka selliseid postitusi, kus Youtube'i ekraani asemel haigutas suur tühjus - video oli vahepeal kustutatud/eemaldatud. Seetõttu otsustasin asendada need Groovesharki linkidega, mis võtavad vähem ruumi ja loodetavasti ei kao nii kergelt.
Mõtlesin selle peale, et võiksin teha postitusi ka muudel teemadel (nt ilu/toit/retseptid), aga pole selles osas veel päris selgusele jõudnud. Kas mul ikka oleks, millest rääkida? :D
Kokkuvõtvalt: mis siis muutus?
* Headeri all on nüüdsest menüü, kus on vajalikud lingid käepärast
* Nipet-näpet ilupisted: fondid, tekstide asetus, profiiliinfo, otsing, favicon...jne
* Lisasin leheküljenumbritega navigeerimise! Vana kujunduse puhul häiris mind see kõige rohkem, et valikuteks olid ainult "newer posts" ja "older posts"
* Organiseeritud märksõnad/labels, millest nüüd loodetavasti ka mingit kasu on. Kõik fotopostitused on märksõnaga "photo", Lightroomi presetid "Lightroom preset" ja eraldi label ka LR3/LR4 kohta. Enimkasutatavad märksõnad on jaluses välja toodud.
* Sotsiaalmeedia jagamisnupud. Kuigi Bloggeris on võimalik neid ka otse lisada, sai kood (kunagi) kuidagi rikutud ja minul nad enam ei ilmunud. Seetõttu leidsin teise lahenduse vasakul ujuva riba näol
* Postituste (otselinkidel) lõpus on nüüd valik teisi postitusi samadel teemadel ehk nn related posts

As you can see, the design of this blog has gone through another change. This time, I've paid more attention to customising it than I have in the past. There is definitely room for improvement but I find that it is a step forward compared to the previous layout. I haven't really spent that much time on this blog before and while fiddling with the code I started seeing more and more things that needed improvement. Looking at posts from the very beginning (2010/2011) when I imported this blog from Tumblr, made me realise that those entries are outdated (very small photos due to Tumblr's image size restrictions back then) and provide absolutely no significant content...so I deleted most of them.
Labeling was also a complete mess, there was just no consistency. It took me a while to organize them and sort things out but I hope navigating via labels is somewhat understandable now.
There was also a problem of Youtube videos at the end of each post...I should've known it wasn't the most reliable way of adding music - some videos get deleted/removed etc which is why I decided to replace Youtube videos with Grooveshark links which, I hope, will not get deleted as easily.
And finally I thought about adding variety in content by posting about various subjects such as beauty/food/recipes...but I haven't quite decided whether I really have anything interesting to share or not :D
In conclusion: what has changed?
* Added a navigation bar with useful links under the header
* "Beauty" tweaks: new fonts, alignment of text, profile info, search, favicon...etc
* I've installed page numbers instead of just "newer/older posts"
* Organized labels
* Social media share widget
* "Related posts" at the end of each post

Uuendused blogi välimuses: lisasin minimalistliku tagatausta ja liigutasin paremal asuva tulba widgetid alla.
Olin tükk aega mõelnud, et midagi tuleks kujundusega ette võtta, sest parem veerg kippus suuremate piltide postitamise korral ette jääma - fotode maksimaalne laius oli limiteeritud 1000 pikslile (ei tea küll miks, aga varem postitasin tikutopsisuuruseid pilte, nüüd olen seda viga üritanud parandada).
Headerit olen viimase paari päeva jooksul vist miljon korda vahetanud (küll ei sobinud font, siis jälle taust, siis jälle font jne). Eelmine header oli veelgi minimalistlikum (ainult must-valge kalibreerimise pilt), aga sel korral leidsin, et oleks vist viisakas mingi tervitus/kirjelduslause ka lisada.
Proovisin ka paari bloggerivälist template'i, kuid need jäid minu jaoks liiga kirjuks, soov oli jääda võrdlemisi lihtsa kujunduse juurde.
Ja kuna saabus kauaoodatud lisarõngas, sain veidi hõlpsamini katsetada Nikoni kere ja Industar objektiivi. Tulemuseks mõned pildid jääst rõduaknal.

Update in blog's appearance: I added a minimalistic background and transferred the contents of the column on the right to the bottom.
One of the reasons why this needed to be done was that the layout limited the width of my photos to 1000px max (I've slowly started uploading bigger images, I have no idea why I previously uploaded matchbox-sized stuff).
Also, I think I've changed my header a million times during these past few days. My previous header was even more minimalistic (just the black-white calibration image) but this time I felt I needed to add a basic description of what this page was about.
I also tried some other templates that I could find around the web, but most of them were a bit too flashy as my mind was set on something very simple (or boring, I guess :D).
Missing additional ring to connect Nikon body to Industar lens arrived and I tested the setup by photographing ice on the window.
Couple of years ago I discovered Leo Sayer and last month bought his vinyl album "Thunder in my heart". Divine!

Okay, so it's been a while since I've been active here. I recently changed the looks of this blog (nothing major, the dark background is gone, some widgets are in different places but overall it pretty much looks the same), because I wanted to have a "cleaner" page. I'm not pleased yet, so if you have any thoughts on what could be done, feel free to comment/contact me.
In terms of photography I've been taking some photos in Laitse and I also went to the bog of Pääsküla, so those photos are coming soon. My means of transportation are a bit limited now because there's something wrong with my bike that makes pedaling extremely difficult, I'd say I have the speed of a slow snail. And although I do have a driver's license, I don't really enjoying taking the car to go out to nature, I just feel that I can't stop every time I see something interesting on the road and that's why I prefer walking or bicycling. So yeah, there's that.
Now, I know that probably about 99% people that visit this blog come here for the Photoshop goodies and I haven't really uploaded anything lately. For those who like my stuff...good news, I plan on uploading a pack of curves soon. I've had it in mind for quite some time now. I believe it should have about 10 or so curves which I've made over the time and use to edit all my photos, always.
Now for the tip. Check out this wonderful video by Peter Hurley teaching how to lose the dreaded double chin in portrait photos (without Photoshop).
In terms of photography I've been taking some photos in Laitse and I also went to the bog of Pääsküla, so those photos are coming soon. Gah, it's been a long process. Yes sir, indeed. Flickr, Livejournal, Wordpress, Tumblr, Wordpress again...and now Blogger. Somewhere in August (14th?) was my 1-year Tumblr anniversary. After 1 year I still haven't grown to love Tumblr. I mean, it's nice, but not exactly what I've been searching for. So, I took some time and exported my Tumblr blog to Blogger. I hope I don't have to move again because it sure is a pain :)
Now, about the header - yes, I know it says "Lightroom presets" and I also know that there are no Lightroom presets to be found. Yet! I have some old ones but I'm also working on new ones as well. I'll upload them as soon as possible.
